Can I lock my flap?

Does one have to have an openable letter box? I have put a locking device on my letter box. A small bolt. So when the postie has been I can just lock the flap to stop the junk. I first started locking my flap at halloween to stop the kids putting rubbish in, but now I lock it up to stop the junk. Is it a legal requirement to have a letter flap?

We own two companies registered at our address and are receiving all kinds of junk mail addressed to these companies. Is it possible for us to opt out of receiving such mail?

Last year I opted out of being on the edited register yet I find my name and address on 192.com. Can I get this removed, and is the council liable?

I completed Royal Mail's opt-out form about 2 months ago but it has made no difference. Is it possible that I am not registered? Will I receive confirmation that my request to stop junk mail has been actioned?
Can I dispose Kleeneze and Avon packs?

I am fed up with being left unwanted Kleeneze and Avon packs and have left numerous "do not leave in future" notes on them, but to no avail. Can I legally just dispose of these packs? My mother in law did this once, but the Kleeneze rep became quite abusive when trying to collect the pack, telling my mother in law she had no right to dispose of the pack as it was the property of Kleeneeze.

Will companies I sent a data protection notice erase all my personal data?

If I send a company a data protection notice, is is there a chance – or even an obligation under the Data Protection Act – that they will delete me entirely from their database? One company has just pointed out, reasonably enough, that if they take me off the database, next time they buy a mailing list they will start sending me junk mail all over again.
