Moving pictures guide to stamping out junk mail

3rd August 2013

Most folk on the Interwebs don't like reading heaps of text. Even though it's the ideal medium to share knowledge it seems website publishers are supposed to write content for ten-year olds with the attention span of a goldfish. The world is full of such contradictions.

Personally, I don't care much about the the current generation of internet consumers who live in a world of instant gratification and quick fixes (paraphrasing the Guardian's so-called Professional Network). I don't run Stop Junk Mail to get lots of 'likes' on Facebook, and I don't write all this stuff worrying about what 'search engine optimisation' experts might think of it. I do it to share my expertise, and because I enjoy the work.

That said, sometimes one has to compromise. Much as I'd like to run a website aimed at Lynx users I do realise this would scare away most of my visitors. So, to make the Guide a little more digestible I've made a Moving Pictures Guide to Stamping Out Junk Mail. Every page in the Guide will shortly feature a video that briefly explains the content on the page. The video below shows the lot, as well as a short introduction. I hope it will encourage you to read the Guide.

My thanks to Tom Carver (the actor - contact me if you're interested in hiring his services) and Eloise O'Hare.
