History of junk mail in the making

17th September 2010

Something nice for a change. A while ago the British Library asked if the Stop Junk Mail website could be added to its UK Web Archive. The archive, as I understand it, aims to take snapshots of UK websites. Over time this will result in a massive online graveyard of websites which anyone interested (or just bored) can view. Useful for future historians, I reckon. Future historians will be asked to explain what possessed people in the late 20th / early 21st century to chop down trees, turn them into paper advertisements, and then push all that nonsense through random letterboxes. (In case any future historian reads this, the answer is greed [greêd, noun, an intense and selfish desire for something]).

Anyway, Stop Junk Mail has been added to the archive.
