Radical solutions
Diary of a junk mail campaigner
Hurray! You can deter junk mail deliverers with a junk mail handling fee notice! Boohoo… You won't be able to enforce the notice. (And so we still need to get the junk mail industry to formally recognise anti-junk mail signs).
Could a letterbox lock be the solution to your junk mail troubles after all?
The Internet of Things might be help us barring junk mailers and cold callers. Just connect your gate to your phone…
If you're considering legal action to force junk mailers not to push rubbish through your door you'll be interested in this trespass notice.

Dr Junk Buster
There is a lad who delivers leaflets from estate agents, replace windows companies and restaurants. I have asked him not to deliver any of the leaflets to my address. His reply was that he has to deliver the leaflets to every address. Today I opened the door to him to stop him from delivering leaflets but he left them outside my door just walked off. Can you please advise me what to do?
Is it possible to send senders of leaflets an invoice and claim the money via the small claims court, in a similar way to how Ikea sends a parking charge if you have been on their property (car park) too long? Junk mail senders are trespassing on my land and ignoring a polite notice not to post anything that is not personally addressed. Would it not be right that we as individuals can submit an invoice to the sender and then take them to court for non-payment after a suitable period of time?
Is there anything that can be done about these fast food menu posters that seem to be deliberately ignoring signs on front doors that clearly state "No Junk Mail" or "No Menus"? I have displayed two such signs, one really big one in the window next to the front door and one directly above the letterbox where it can't possibly be missed. I have even tried writing and phoning these ghastly junk food parlours to no avail. Is there anything that can be done?
Does one have to have an openable letter box? I have put a locking device on my letter box. A small bolt. So when the postie has been I can just lock the flap to stop the junk. I first started locking my flap at halloween to stop the kids putting rubbish in, but now I lock it up to stop the junk. Is it a legal requirement to have a letter flap?
